Tractor Birthday Cake

Image
Linda from Berkshire very kindly sent a thank you letter with some photos from the party: "Dear Michelle  Thank you so much for the fantastic tractor cake which fitted the brief perfectly.  Ray was absolutely overwhelmed when he saw it and everyone at the party said how fabulous it was.  Ray decided that we should cut it at the party and yours truly was given the task!  I don't think I would have managed it without your detailed instructions so thanks for including those.  I can appreciate what an engineering feat it must have been to achieve the cake structure.  Well done for producing such a wonderful cake again in the short timescale given.  Not only was it a fantastic piece of artwork but the lemon sponge was really delicious.  Thanks again for your excellent service and here are a few pics from the party.  Best regards  Linda "

Each individual feather is meticulously hand-painted, capturing the peacock's renowned iridescence and array of vibrant colors. But the artistry doesn't stop there. A final touch of airbrushing is employed, further enhancing the brightness and tropical feel of the peacock's majestic display. Prince William & Kate Middleton Royal Wedding Cake

Image
I use this ideal home show cake competition as a great opportunitiy to do something different, other than the usual decorated round tiered cake people normally expect for a classic tiered wedding cake. It was really a challenge for me to do this cake. It's a hard work, but I really enjoyed making it. Prince William and Kate Middleton cake is made of traditional english fruit cake, carved into 3D busts with an armature inside, covered with apricot jam. The icing was sculpted with details and then airbrushed with colours to make it look more realistic. It took about 80 hours to make and I uses more than 10kgs marzipan and 10kg Icing sugar. You can see this cake at the " Ideal Food-Ideal Cake Decorato r" section at the Ideal Home Show March 11th -  27th   2011 Earls Court London. I hope I see you there! Sweet Art Exhibition Tokyo TV Coverage

Image
This video was shot while I was doing sweet art exhibition for The Imperial Hotel Tokyo. The actual shot of the making part took 3 hours, and I had to demonstrate my sugar art technique to sculpt a face. I never use mold for my face sculpting, and in the actual shot, I had to sculpt 2 different facial expressions (half sad, half happy) all in one head- no repeat! and I had to correct it again in the end. That's why you'll see the left and right eyes didn't actually match. :) The presenter was really friendly and entertaining. We really had fun with the TV crew as well.
