St Bride's Church Cake

Celebrating London Festival of Architecture 2012 , John Robertson Architects commissioned Michelle Sugar Art to create a gigantic cake based on scale model of St Bride’s Church in Fleet Street London. The model and an accompanying exhibition of the history of St Bride's Church, will support the INSPIRE! Appeal - launched in March 2012 to fund the urgent repair and restoration of St Bride's tiered spire, said to have been the inspiration for the design of modern wedding cake . It took Michelle nearly 70 hours, lot’s of sugar paste and icing sugar to complete this gigantic piece of cake measuring 5 feet tall. Ford Ecoboost Engine Cake

  Celebrating the achievement of ' International Engine of the year ' award Ford UK comissioned a lifesize cake of the company most proud of EcoBoost 1.0 litre Engine .   This celebration cake was made in incredible precission following the CAD drawing of the engine itself, instead of metal allow it's made of multi layered sponge cake, sugar paste and icing sugar. It took Michelle in excess of 40 hours to construct enough details making it inseparable with the real engine itself which was also on display during the event.   Is it real engine or the cake?   The cake was on display next to the brand new Ford Focus Congratulations to Ford and their engineers for such a great achievement and hope you enjoy the cake!    Metro UK Newspeaper clipping, Friday 15th June 2012 Check out latest photos from Ford UK Facebook Page

Queen's Diamond Jubilee Cake

  This realistic cake was created by Michelle to celebrate 60 years of Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II's reign as well as the queen's official birthday on the 4th June 2012. The Crown Edible Sugar Paste covered with non toxic food glitters. The Head Sculpted Fruit Cake covered with marzipan, and Sugar Paste, painted and airbrushed with food colouring. The Pedestal Layered Vanilla Sponge Cake, with vanilla buttercream filling,  covered with Sugar Paste. THE PROCESS Armature (frame) is created using cake board and wood Layered fruit cake for the head, carved & sculpted with Sugar Paste Layered vanilla sponge for base, covered with Sugar Paste Final details is hand painted and airbrushed with  food colouring. After 40 hours it's done and delivered for the BBC Diamond Jubilee Concert in the Buckingham Palace. Watch the full story at the BBC One Show, 4th June at 18:30.
