Sweet Art Exhibition Tokyo TV Coverage

Image
This video was shot while I was doing sweet art exhibition for The Imperial Hotel Tokyo. The actual shot of the making part took 3 hours, and I had to demonstrate my sugar art technique to sculpt a face. I never use mold for my face sculpting, and in the actual shot, I had to sculpt 2 different facial expressions (half sad, half happy) all in one head- no repeat! and I had to correct it again in the end. That's why you'll see the left and right eyes didn't actually match. :) The presenter was really friendly and entertaining. We really had fun with the TV crew as well.

Minnie Mouse Cake

Image
Celebrating Phoebe's 1 year old, I created 3D Minnie Mouse Sponge Cake decorated with a large balloon. Here is what the client's says: "Hello Michelle I hope you and your family are doing well..anyway this is just a quick message to thank-you for making my little one's party special.. The cake was really beautiful and the design was very intricate - from the eyelashes, The bow on the bib, and the tail ...I can't think of anyone who wasn't blown away by my little one's cake..and as a result everyone couldn't wait for me to cut it - they suspected it was too perfect and teddy like to be an edible cake.. after hours of marvelling at the cake we finally cut It and it tasted just as good as it looked - can I be the first to say you will have a long successful career as a cake maker and your skills is invaluable...no one at the party had ever seen a cake with such detail.  -Gynel-"

Suckling Pig Cake

Image
Calling all food art enthusiasts and sugar sculpture aficionados! I'm thrilled to share my latest creation that recently took center stage at the Experimental Food Society's "Spectacular" event in London: a hyper-realistic, life-size suckling pig cake, entirely crafted from sponge cake and sugar paste! This wasn't your average dessert. It was a meticulously detailed edible sculpture, complete with every pink wrinkle, playful curl of the tail, and even tiny, realistic vegetables nestled around it. Imagine the surprised gasps and wide-eyed wonder as guests encountered this unexpected culinary illusion! But the fun didn't stop at aesthetics. This wasn't just a stunning display piece; it was also designed to delight the palate. Throughout the day, the cake took pride of place on exhibit, drawing admiration and sparking lively discussions about the boundaries of food art. Then, come dinnertime, the magic happened! With careful cuts and a touch of theatrical fl...
