Wicked Themed Birthday Cake

It's not every day you turn 40, so for Christine's milestone birthday, her friend Michelle knew she had to go above and beyond with a cake that truly captured her personality. And where better to find inspiration than the fantastical world of "Wicked"?

Michelle embarked on a journey to Oz, drawing on the iconic imagery of the musical's main stage to craft a showstopping cake that was equal parts whimsical and theatrical. Imagine a Victorian sponge cake meticulously sculpted into the shape of the grand clock tower, its face illuminated by color-changing LED lights, adding an element of magic and mystery.

But the clock wasn't alone. Perched atop its peak was a fierce, yet charming, sugar dragon figurine, its scales meticulously crafted and adorned with edible mechanical cogs made from sugar paste. These intricate details hinted at the intricate gears of fate that turn in Oz, mirroring the journey of self-discovery Christine was about to embark on.

The centrepiece, however, wasn't complete without its characters. Michelle lovingly molded sugar renditions of Elphaba and Glinda, the two iconic figures from "Wicked," adding a touch of their vibrant personalities to the cake. Their presence served as a reminder of the power of friendship and the duality that exists within us all.

This "wickedly" delicious cake wasn't just a sweet treat; it was a work of art, a tribute to Christine's love for the musical, and a symbol of the incredible lengths friends go to make birthdays truly special. It was a cake that sparkled with imagination, reminding everyone that life, like Oz, is full of unexpected twists and turns, and that even at 40, the adventure is just beginning.

Prince William & Kate Middleton Royal Wedding Cake

I use this ideal home show cake competition as a great opportunitiy to do something different, other than the usual decorated round tiered cake people normally expect for a classic tiered wedding cake. It was really a challenge for me to do this cake. It's a hard work, but I really enjoyed making it. Prince William and Kate Middleton cake is made of traditional english fruit cake, carved into 3D busts with an armature inside, covered with apricot jam. The icing was sculpted with details and then airbrushed with colours to make it look more realistic. It took about 80 hours to make and I uses more than 10kgs marzipan and 10kg Icing sugar.
